then industrialization happened, and since then war has been a complete economical loss for everybody involved, even the winner, and not ever worth the price.

except for the fact that the leaders of the 19th and 20th century grew up on classical literature from antiquity, and didn't get the memo about things being different, and thus didn't pass it on to the leaders today :(
