Yesterday I donated the pixelfed.ca domain to https://fedecan.ca, who are now hosting a Canadian Pixelfed server!

How can Pixelfed sustain the growth without introducing ads or some other form of monetization?

Federation.

If pixelfed.social becomes to costly, we simply close registration. I'd never consider any other option, especially one that would sell out our core mission by taking VC funding.

This is why I'm asking for you to help fund this open source empire of future-proof social media.

Stories are coming to our Pixelfed app, and they are AMAZING!

Not everyone likes them, and they can hide them if they prefer.

But for the rest of us, you will get all the familiar features like Story Reactions, Comments and even who viewed your story/view counts.

It's getting pretty wild, I can't believe Pixelfed.social is now the most active fediverse server.

And Loops is now the 3rd most active.

It hasn't fully hit me yet, I'm still working on bug fixes and app updates, and support, devops, moderation, fundraising and marketing.

People worried about me burning out don't realize I've been dreaming of this, and preparing.

That's how I was able to ship the app, scale the servers and grow our team in just a few days.

One more thing, you see it too.

AI generated posts are getting reported, so I think we need to adopt a new strategy to allow to users to self tag AI content, and allow everyone to filter that out from their feeds with a single setting.

If users don't self tag AI, they will get a warning, and multiple violations may lead to suspension.
