OK.
What about Friday August 1st & Saturday August 2nd?
Or, Friday August 8th & Saturday August 9th?
Would either or both of those work for you?

Organizers Log:
I have some potential dates for this Fediverse Conference in Canada (FediCon).
I have been talking to one location about renting a room from them (for the conference). I asked them for 2 consecutive days we could rent a particular room.
This (in the attached screenshot) is what they said.
Given this, I am still leaning towards doing the conference in the month of August.
Maybe on a Friday and a Saturday.
I wrote a thread related to this almost 2 years ago:
1/ I've been in the #openSource scene for a long time. From BEFORE this was even called "open-source" — back BEFORE the phrase "open-source" even got coined and became common. Here is a problem with most open-source software projects have, including most #Fediverse software —
Mastodon (mastodon.social)
The TL;DR is —
Most open-source software is created by software-engineers — and usually no one with UI, UX, or product backgrounds are involved.
Creating new products is a different skill-set — usually labeled under product, UX, and UI.
And, although some software-engineers have UX, UI, or product skills — most don't.
So, when they do open-source — they often just copy / mimick.
Could ActivityPub / ActivityStreams be used to synchronize files across separate machines / computers / devices‽
I think the answer is, YES.
❦
The inbox-outbox system could enable you to send messages between separate machines / computers / devices.
The 'messages' transfer the changed 'blocks' / 'chunks' that make up a file, notify about deletions, file creations, etc
Existing Activity Types might be sufficient to do this
#ActivityPub #ActivityStreams #FediDev #FediDevs #Fediverse #JSONLD
Organizers Log:
I continue to work on figuring out what it will cost to put on this Fediverse Conference in Canada (FediCon).
One question —
Should we give out Lanyards?
They are those things people are sometimes given at conferences that they put around their necks and usually some type of "badge" with their name on it, hangs from it
And if yes, should they be "branded"?
I know some people keep them as souvenirs
But they have a cost

Organizers Log: I am working on organizing a Fediverse conference in Canada In Alberta in particular. Probably in the city of Edmonton (I don't live in Alberta — I live in another part of Canada) Right now, I am trying to figure out how to get space for it in Edmonton. ( @jeffhorton@mstdn.ca , put me in touch with a couple people in Edmonton.) (I organized for about a decade — but stopped a little before my first child was born. So, I have done this type of thing before.) #DeSo #FediCon #Fediverse

I have been thinking about it (a Canadian Fediverse / Social Web conference).
Maybe put it in a city within driving distance of where @dansup lives, so that it is easy for him to attend
Cool, let's do that.
I am about to fly back home to Canada.
I will reach out to you, to schedule something, after I get back to Canada (and recover from the new jetlag I am about to experience).
