hate how wikipedia treats games 1.0 release date as the year theyre from like no quake champions is not a 2022 game its from 2017 it was in early access for years i think that release date counts more

@gigalomaniac counting early access as release date completely defeats the point of early access of getting public feedback and funding on an unfinished game though

-
ok but consider who tf played quake champions in 2022 its not the product of 2022 its very much the product of the 2017 post doom 2016 era
saying it's a 2022 game makes it sound like it was made alongside doom eternal lol
-
@gigalomaniac yeah i agree on that, it would be nice to have some sort of early access release date in the infobox
-
@steffo @gigalomaniac I think "early access" is a joke
like yes I understand the point but when you do this the game is effectively out, a public beta is a release -
yes and no
for most games it's a matter of setting expectations i think
i don't expect having a good experience when playing an early access game, and for that reason i'm very reluctant to buy or even play early access games
but at the same time, if i do, i don't like to criticize them publicly if i had a bad time while playing until the developers say they're done, since i was warned about it
