i wonder how big a deal nick is in-universe. like he's the hotshot newbie who always uncovers the truth, but it almost seems like only the bad guys know how good he is. he's the attorney shelly dekiller turns to for matt engarde's defense, and he's the attorney furio tigre impersonates, but i can't think of any time an innocent defendant sought him out unless they already knew him personally
like, he only represents ron delite because desiree saw a news story about the urn -> information about maya -> rumours about the law office she hangs out at

i'm trying to write a post and i realize that i don't know how to talk about sections of a case. i want to say "the day 2 investigation", which is technically correct, but only in the same sense that the first day of court is day 2. in my head the chapter structure is "day 1 investigation, day 1 trial, day 2 investigation, day 2 trial..." which is. not true. in general, you investigate in the afternoon and go to trial in the morning
-
anyway. i'm at the very beginning of the "post-day-1-trial investigation" phase of 3-2 (which is weird in its own way, since in-universe tomorrow is day 1 of a new trial, but whatever)
my understanding of nick's state of mind is: he just proved ron can't be mask*demasque. i know he's wrong, but afaict, nick doesn't have any suspicion about that. he doesn't believe ron killed the KB CEO, but i actually think he's less sure about that at the moment. he hasn't even agreed to represent him again, just to poke around and see what he can find
back at the demasque hideout, desiree brings up how "being mask*demasque" is a delusional fantasy of ron's, and nick says "you're the one living in a fantasy". ...why? i know that she's wrong, but what does nick think she's wrong about?

just an odd bit of writing

@monorail everybody calls it that though
-
@steffo alright, at least it's not just me haha
-
@monorail i might be wrong but i think that the games themselves start doing that at a certain point when showing you the save file
