I was wearing a cartridge pleated skirt with 4+ m of hem, of course over a corded petticoat, and heeled boots

of course the car was parked in such a way that the driver's side wasn't accessible, so I had to get on it from the passenger's side

and when I finally managed to get myself and all of my skirts in the driver's seat, I realized I had forgotten my glasses, and had to get out and in again.

(but it was easier than I expected when I found myself in front of the car and had a uh-oh moment)

Stavo indossando una gonna arricciata con più di 4 metri di orlo, ovviamente sopra ad una sottogonna irrigidita con cordini, e gli stivaletti col tacco.

ovviamente l'auto era parcheggiata in modo da rendere inaccessibile il lato guidatore, e dovevo salire dal lato passeggero

e quando finalmente sono riuscita a spostare me stessa e tutte le gonne nel sedile del guidatore, mi sono accorta che mi ero dimenticata gli occhiali, e ho dovuto uscire e ripetere tutta la manovra da capo

(ma alla fin fine è stato più facile di quanto mi aspettassi quando mi sono trovata davanti alla macchina e mi sono resa conto di cosa mi aspettava)

oh, and the drive would have been a nice walk, with the weather still reasonable, but then when I got back home I would have had to get the car and drive my old-ish mother to the polling station, so, yeah, we all went by car.

ah, e avrebbe potuto essere una bella passeggiata, con il meteo ancora gradevole, ma poi una volta rientrati a casa avrei dovuto salire in macchina per portare l'anziana¹ madre al seggio, e quindi, vabbé, siamo andati tutti in auto
