@xris In our museum, we even planted one inside the small chicken yard, an old tradition.
The only problems I know: 1. You have to greet it daily (also an old tradition in France). 2. You may not kill it (otherwise the sacred snake living under the roots will curse the killer).

What I have found is that if I damage an Elderberry tree/shrub I get a migraine and nausea, and feel very ill just from the smell of the sap released.

That's good enough reason for me not to harm one.

I have four, and just dug a couple of small ones up and put in pots.

In about six weeks' time, my garden will be full of heavenly scent. Come late summer, the freezer will be full of berries.
