Early morning train to go ride gadgetbahns. This is the same journey, as far as Birmingham anyway, that caused me to get a driving license.
Alas, it is a Pendelino.

The entire vegan food offering appears to be toast. Host has multiple food allergies and is sympathetic.

“Host” because to avoid a repeat of the experience that caused me to learn to drive, I paid an extortionate amount to travel in First.

The aforementioned host has found some avocado. Toast improved.

The coffee machine in the buffet is broken!

Fortunately, the coffee machine in First is working. Despite the train operator being half owned by the Italian railways, the coffee is terrible.

@feorag I asked around about the quality of coffee on the Italian trains, but apparently none of the people I know buy coffee on trains
they do suggest that maybe the Italian half does not deal with the coffee, but with making sure that the train is late

@valhalla I have it on good authority from an Italian friend who likes train travel and coffee, that the coffee on Italian trains sucks.

My sibling in Cthulhu. If you raise the bar high enough, eventually everything will fall below it and suck.
I think the most disappointing coffee I had in Italy was from a weird little stall almost in the gangway of the airport in Rome. Then the further I got from that epicenter, the better it got.
And while this coffee truly was disappointing, I could throw a rock in Germany blindfolded and the nearest coffee would likely not be better.
