Big news! @altbot has a new home

So I drove 8 hours to deliver the server, and then it traveled ANOTHER 9 hours all the way to Chicago to live with my friends at Nulled LLC (small colo/VPS company). They've been incredibly generous with pricing to support the project, and also insanely patient with all my first-time-colo "stupid questions" lol

Why did I need to move it? Well Altbot generates hundreds of alt-texts daily, but also... my home network was getting targeted with DDoS attacks (not fun). This gives way better uptime, protection, and room to scale.

The journey has been honestly... crazy. it all started as a scrappy project, moved to a locally hosted LLM on my home server, and now it's properly colocated at a REAL datacenter!

Ongoing cost is ~$100/month for colo, plus future hardware upgrades (will need to get a 2nd GPU soon!). If you value what altbot does for fediverse accessibility and want to help keep it running:
