After visiting the Global Sumud Flotilla captives in one of the most notorious Israeli prisons, Adalah Legal Counsel Lubna Tuma describes their mistreatment and denial of basic rights, treatment that reflects the wider system of abuse faced by Palestinian prisoners.
She reports that:
• Hearings began without legal counsel
• Activists were forced into painful positions for hours
• Food, water, and medical care were denied
• Women, especially those wearing hijab, were targeted with harsher treatmentThis is not an isolated case, it exposes the same methods routinely used against Palestinians under occupation: humiliation, deprivation, and collective punishment.
