Good job amateur radio operators for your letter writing campaign to the FCC! https://www.openresearch.institute/2025/09/12/defending-amateur-radio-spectrum-the-ast-spacemobile-battle-continues/
AST SpaceMobile is now only allowed to have 20 satellites use amateur radio bands for operations for 24 hours at a time, when other bands are full. Definitely not a full victory but ...I guess... it's as good as you can hope for with the FCC handing everything over absolutely anything satellite companies ask for right now.
Keep fighting! AST SpaceMobile is awful.

Why is AST SpaceMobile awful? If they launched all 400ish satellite they're planning, and you lived in say, downtown Toronto, you might not be able to see stars, but on the summer solstice you'd be able to see the Moon, Venus, and a handful of AST SpaceMobile satellites zipping across your sky all night.
Those satellites are bright enough to possibly damage sensitive detectors in research telescopes. I really, really hate what they're doing.

Simulation based on code from https://iopscience.iop.org/article/10.3847/1538-3881/ac341b, scaled up to AST SpaceMobile satellite sizes. Note: not peer-reviewed for these very large satellite sizes, so it's probably not perfect. But the first one was ridiculously bright so it's probably not too far off. https://rdcu.be/drQOU
