the VPS³ where you have the git repository is down. and you could sync directly with the laptop, but you're here under various meters of fabric and the laptop is over there, turned off, on the other side of the room!
or you can complain on the internet until the VPS is back :D
(and find out that you didn't push your commit from the laptop)
¹ we don't do those “90 cm cut of fabric, good for a skirt here. it's ankle-length at the very least, and finished circumference at the hem above 3 m or GTFO

Quella situazione in cui stai cucendo una gonna, hai svariati metri¹ di stoffa sulle gambe e devi controllare gli appunti², ma sai di averli aggiornati sul portatile, ma sei sul PC, e quindi fai git pull. e ti va in timeout.
la VPS³ su cui hai il repository git è irraggiungibile, e potresti sincronizzare direttamente con il laptop, ma tu sei qui, sotto svariati metri di stoffa, e il portatile è là, spento, dall'altro lato della stanza!
oppure puoi lamentarti su internet fino a che la VPS non torna :D
(e scoprire che non hai fatto push del commit dal laptop)
¹ qui non esiste “scampolo da 90 cm, per una gonna. qui si parte dalla lunghezza caviglie e almeno 3 m di circonferenza dell'orlo o non se ne fa niente.

Anni fa alla festa PRC di Savona arivò un sarto della Liberia.
Che usava tessuti con dissegni coloratissimi.
E misurava in pollici.
Una delle cuoche fu così contenta di avere solo 48 di girovita che si fece fare 6 vestiti.

@anominominominous beh, dai, di solito sono 90 cm di lunghezza, ma 140 o più cm di larghezza, il giro attorno ai fianchi lo si fa con quello (e con 90 cm di lunghezza arrivi al ginocchio, con un po' di margine se la gonna è dritta) -

@kastope the one I'm doing right now is going to be 375 cm (3 panels of 125 cm wide fabric)
with a cage crinoline I guess more than 4 meters would not surprise me (but I still don't have one)

@kastope error: length is not defined for a fractal :D
(seriously: even with regular gathered flounces I'm not sure what is the correct way to measure them as “hem of the skirt”: when hemming them the ungathered length is the one that matters, but when worn they act more like a skirt where the hem is as long as the *gathered* hem (or just a bit more), but with more thickness)
