In a way, most of "politics" on "the left" in America has been about a gigantic game of chicken between the billionaire-owned liberal elite, and the labor class base the Democratic Party needs to be politically successfully. On one side, the argument is "you will accept the capitalization, corporatization and financialization of every aspect of life because otw you will get the Hitler" and the labor class is like "fuck you I won't do what ya tell me." And that covers most of the past 11 years.

(Politics in quotations because the American system of capitalist "democracy" in which capital overwhelms anything resembling democratic rights can only really be called "politics" by someone with a very narrow imagination for what is possible. "The left" in quotations because I do not believe liberals, even the progressive ones, are "the left." I don't think you can be "the left" if you aren't anticapitalist. However anticapitalists are excluded from American "politics" so those terms pass.)

(Also, fuck it, since we're doing footnotes:
capitalization = "this is a for profit business now."
corporatization = "that business and its shareholders now have more rights than you do as a person."
financialization = "and we get to gamble on it with money guaranteed by your pension."
It's important to know what some 50 cent words mean so the pig ruling class doesn't bamboozle you via buzzword and boredom.)
