@Flux I remember long ago watching Canadian Brass do a stunt where the tuba player, Charles Daellenbach, (who, incidentally, grew up in the same small Wisconsin town as me, though rather earlier) played Flight of the Bumblebee. One of the trumpet players came over and took over the fingering while Charles made a show of shaking out his fingers while continuing to play, before taking over the fingering again.
The timing was absolutely flawless, and I (speaking as a brass player including tuba) could not hear any flaws from either switch. If I hadn't been watching the exquisite showmanship I would not have noticed the changes.
This was obviously a signature shtick and I find that they did this on The Muppet Show, though I only ever saw it live. The only video I can find is from CBS and is different because there's only one fingering swap, at the end.
Anyway, that's what this reminded me of.
