Time to play AI feature whack-a-mole! If you have a Gmail account Google opts you into their AI features by default(what else is new?).
To turn off Gemini AI in Gmail:
๏ Open Gmail in the browser.
๏ Click on the Gear Settings Icon
in the upper right corner of the page.
๏ In the General Tab, scroll down to "Smart Features" and UNCHECK THE BOX(halfway down). Then, right below that is yet another monstrosity: "Google Workspace smart features". Click on the "Manage Workspace Smart Features" and make sure both accursed toggles are turned OFF. -

Apparently doing this can have effects on your emails, such as turning off labels/automatic email filtering" and lumping in your emails together in your main inbox(as opposed to being categorized, apparently this is also a "smart" feature, didnt know that). Also it'll affect Gmail events on your Google Calendar.
So maybe worth studying further before opting out, but honestly the AI features are so freakin' vile, they're a privacy nightmare. In all it ought to be a good kick in the butt to GTF off Gmail. -
