I've had to laugh at all the young (to me) people claiming they could never write a novel if they didn't have a computer to write it on.

I've had to laugh at all the young (to me) people claiming they could never write a novel if they didn't have a computer to write it on. Their hands would cramp. They think faster than they can write.
All I can say is, if you didn't know computers existed, you would write however you could. That's what all the people before you did. And their hands cramped, and they thought as fast as you do.
I spent most of my life with a huge callus on the second finger of my right hand that I got from writing, so huge that my finger looked deformed. You would have one too.

@joyce OTOH, did their hand cramp as much as it does for people today, if they had been taught the right¹ way to hold the pen (and used pens that don't require pressure)?
¹ or at least one of the right ways. and it didn't use to be taught the right way at all, but stopping teaching it at all was worse
