Is there a method or tool to figure out what sized screw I need for a given tapped hole?
Since on my over-80-yrs old metal shaper I've both imperial and metric holes , sometimes I use a thread counter to check the sides of the hole, but often I just check: if an M6 screw is loose, there are good chances it's an UNC ¼-20.
