Once upon a time, I followed all these writers on Twitter, I remember feeling like they were so cool, they wrote so well, and made some really good books. But they remained there, through Twitter's qanon period, fash arc, childporn era, they're still here to this day, they had a following to answer to or whatever reason.
Over the years, they've all more of less went through the blue checkmark, elon's alright, loudly embracing Catholicism pipeline. At one point I must have tried to subscribe to their newsletter, 'cos I got the odd mailer from that prick Kingsnorth and the occasional one from Simon Sarris, I used to be such a fan, SUCH A FAN. These all turned to be such disappointments, I can't even put myself in the shoes of this version of myself who thought these people were smart, or eloquent.
There's no convincing me that anyone still on there has anything meaningful to contribute. The worst thing is that I don't think their presence there is what made these people mediocre, I think they always had been, but I just couldn't see it.
