I think it’s fascinating how some neurodivergent people ae like “I would NEVER Break A Rule and I will attempt to parse poorly written rules to hell and back so I can try to adhere to them” and others are like “lol these systems makes no sense, I am not obligated to follow any of your bullshit”
(And ofc many of us are in between and believe strongly in certain rule sets but not others etc etc — but what makes the difference between them?)

@moss for me it's also my strong fairness instincts that structure which rules are important, and also my ideology. Traffic rules?* There to keep everybody safe. Tax rules? I'm happy to pay my share of taxes, and I'm fairly relieved it's automated. The law against dancing without permit?** Fuck that lol. Laws discriminating against migrants and refugees? Fuck that even harder, I'll happily hide someone if that ever comes up.

@moss I think the dancing law was repealed during the early pandemic years, maybe, but it hasn't come up for me since. There's been many a time where barstaff has asked us to stop dancing because they didn't want to lose alcohol licensing! Often we were just uh wriggling, there wasn't space to dance.

@silhelm @moss I wonder if they have different safety regulations for places where people dance and for place where people drink, or if it is one of those “dancing goes against the protestant ethos” remnants.
I think something about the former (in Switzerland, not Sweden) was mentioned in the early aftermath of en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2026_Cra… , and it wasn't the cause (they weren't respecting any set of safety regulations), but it could be a somewhat reasonable reason to ban dancing in some places.

@valhalla @moss it was the moral thing afaik, though firecode was used as an argument - however the counterargument was that people dancing vs standing around does not a fire make (it's the number of people in the room and the possibilities to evacuate that's an issue, not the movement of the people). The dancing without permit was also for outside events.
