Found another yard surprise.

Found another yard surprise. I hit it with the edging shovel a couple times before investigating.
If I was one of those Tubers that restored *anything* to make a video, this would be a good candidate.
But I’m not.

It seems that I could knock the pins out to separate everything, clean all the parts and patch the wood, then reassemble, but leave out the center divider and the broken blade and make it a thinner, single-blade knife for the garden. I could have used it for the tomatoes stringing. I using a big boning knife.
We’ll see. I’ll at least take it apart. If it doesn’t look possible, I won’t waste more time with it.

Took it apart. Looks like it will indeed go back together as a simple penknife, leaving out the broken blade and its locking piece, the center divider, and the corkscrew. Probably a bit delicate after, but good for cutting melon vines and whatnot.
Only problem is the butt end of the one metal side that was badly damaged. No way to fix it. Would have to make a new one from something thin. Will need new pins, too.
Fourth photo from wikipedia, similar end result.
