I went for a wander down to the creek not far from my in-laws and found some delightful Bellbirds (Bell Miners).
We used to have a heap of these at home, but a couple of years ago, they moved on to somewhere else and we miss their incessent calling.
Also on campus the other day, Dusky Moorhen chicks!
There were of course more duckling photos that weren't just of their butts.
Also found on campus today for the first time, and Australian Reed Warbler.
Apparently only one other observation on iNaturalist on campus in 2015, but since the lakes now have reedy wetlands, I guess it makes sense.
Small bird, HUGE feet.
A sub-adult Comb-crested Jacana I spotted this morning at work. Its comb is now almost fully formed so it's pretty close to adulthood.
Went for a wander down the road, since it's a lovely day outside.
I found a Scarlet Honeyeater, Crimson Rosella, Brown Thornbill, and a Grey Shrike-thrush.

Went for a lunchtime walk, found the ducklings again. Still seven, which is nice. Very attentive parents.
I did need to encourage them to get off the road at one point though, since students & tradies aren't very attentive when driving.
Duckling update as of lunchtime today. There's still seven, and they are still extremely cute.

Sleepy ducks this morning. All the ducklings are tucked up under Mother Duck.
Good News Everybody!
It's Duckling Season!
I found a small clutch of seven Australian Wood Duck ducklings being guided by their attentive parents.

Our local Swamp Wallaby was back this afternoon (briefly) to munch on some ferns and grass.

Seven Pelicans on the lake this morning at work.
Pretty impressive for a lake with no fish in it.

A shy Wonga Pigeon on my driveway this arvo.
Definitely didn't want to be observed.
I checked the wildlife camera in the backyard today and noticed I had caught two things that weren't wallabies.
A Brown Bandicoot: https://youtu.be/Zw7nK0ze6Tw
And a Tawny Frogmouth: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GR80YLXxiQ0

A male Variegated Fairywren for #FairywrenFriday.
Birds on the veranda today.
One of the local, very cheeky, Sulphur-crested Cockatoos (who are definitely not allowed any seed).
And our regular pair of Australian King Parrots (who are allowed some seed).

Our Swamp Wallaby spent about an hour in the backyard this morning grazing until it started to rain and she took off in to the bush for cover.
