@RyeNCode@mstdn.ca NES carts won't suffer that issue as back in the day they've used mask ROM (aka the game is etched on the chip die silicon!) that doesn't suffer from leaking currents as flash does.As a (anedoctal) proof that back in the day they cared about the hardware lasting, you might be appalled that some NES cartridges with SRAM/battery save still have a fairly good coin cell in them, ~35 years after their release! Same goes for the greater majority of GameBoy games using MBC1 and MBC5 chips, so just having battery saving and none of the real time clock amenities.@djlink@mastodon.gamedev.place
