It just occurred to me that without access to a pencil, #origami alone is capable of multiplying numbers together quite easily.

@GustavinoBevilacqua Well for one, I can't click the Quality option, or smoothing option because it'll mouse-pick the label underneath XD

I folded lots of paper this week.
I folded lots of paper this week.
It started off innocently enough, I was reminded of that paper about how flat origami is Turing-complete, and of how I never attempted to fold one of these for myself. I've already written about a paper computer and all the ways in which computer emulators can be operated on paper, but nothing on using the paper itself for doing the computation. So I set out to correct that, and all the while learning how to do hexagonal folds for the first time.
Another thing on my plate has been to gradually getting rid of Uxnasm.c in favor of the self-hosted one. Before I entirely drop that dependency, I want to be absolutely certain that the bootstrapping process is as robust as I could possibly make it. I'm not 100% happy yet, but Uxnasm.c is getting closer to retirement.

U.S.
U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services has announced it will begin screening immigrants' social media for evidence of antisemitic activity as grounds for denying immigration benefit requests. The screenings will affect people applying for permanent residence status as well as foreigners affiliated with educational institutions.

One aspect that I like of the programming language I use daily is its robustness, it'd be hard for it to become unrecoverable.
One aspect that I like of the programming language I use daily is its robustness, it'd be hard for it to become unrecoverable.
The language itself relies on a runtime that can be emulated in about 150 lines in most languages(including its own language), and a 2300 bytes self-hosted assembler. There is a bootstrapping toolchain that allows me to recover an assembler from a hex dump on an operating system without `cat`, or `xxd`, or even with an implementation of the runtime without a file system.
I've added a few notes on how it all works:

RE: A flurry of activity along our dock: the westerly gales have subsided, for now, and an Atlantic high has brought clear skies and light winds for the first time this month.
@ccohanlon Turkey, even despite all the turmoil going there, seems like a really enticing place to live quietly at anchor. If that's the route that you choose, when about would you have to cast of to be in the right season for that kind of trip? Would she also have fly ahead or can you both do the trip?
