Anti fungal / antibug treatment done.
Tomorrow I'll apply the paint coat.

All pieces have been glued, patched, and plastered. All we need now is the finish.

Glueing the pieces.
Unfortunately the majority of the mortises were wider than I had calculated, so I had to choose a side to stick to; then used nails as wedges to clamp the pieces against the chosen side.
When the glue dries I'll turn the shutter upside down and fill the remaining holes with glue or putty.
For the holes near the walls, I'll use toothpicks as dowels.
It was a very sloppy job
so I'll do what I can to correct it. -

Anyway here are the rabbeted pieces. Definitely much better than before (minus the kickback scars

Thankfully, the damage to the piece was minor, and I suffered no harm. Whew!

IMPORTANT WARNING:
Do NOT try to cut a rabbet on an already grooved piece; the chips will cause LOTS of kickbacks. Not full force, fortunately, but I had to stop the saw or lift the piece often so the chips would fly away and clear up.
I'm Ok, but next time I'll cut the rabbet BEFORE cutting the grooves.

Upon reflection, I realize I should have split those 1x2's so there wouldn't be unnecessary grooves along their full width.
I could have split them at the right height, cut the grooves, and then I could join them back.
I think I'm going to cut a rabbet on each 1x2 to get rid of the unused grooves. Then maybe glue a 1x1 to replace what I had cut.
