The worst kind of people to encounter IMHO, are boring people.

Like... Fascists, you punch. Good people, you help. Loud people, you tell to shut up.

But boring people? Like, I'm not gonna be extra-assholey and tell them to their face that they are boring!

@scarlett Yep, it's gonna be a minefield.

And to be clear, I feel like the problem isn't ChatGPT itself (although there's plenty to criticize it for). The problem is the human taking the output of whatever tool and using it without understanding.

So today I got a taste of how I'm gonna make easy money in the very near future.

"Hey @afreytes, could you help me with this SQL script? It just hangs and never completes."

Me: Uh? What's this? And this? Are you sure you need this?

Blank stare

Me: Listen man, you can't do this, it's basic. This is like Database 101 stuff. You know you can't insert select on the same table like that.

"Well, ChatGPT, said that..."

Me: The next time, call me first. If you use ChatGPT I'll charge you double...

Puerto Ricans are US citizens, so I often wonder how much better I'd be if I had just emigrated to the US; I'd like to think I would probably own a home. Maybe would have retired already.

On the other hand, while I know colonialism isn't right, that I am handicapped just by being here. I am fully aware there are worse places. Palestine, Haiti, heck even Hawaii.

I rage about colonialism, but realize I'm still privileged. I complain but feel like an asshole.

Video and pictures of Americans protesting fill my heart with hope.

On the other hand, I feel like an honourable use of offline/local AI would be processing these pictures/videos to:

1) Scrub and obfuscate identifiable information
2) Generate as much bogus information as possible to curb surveillance

Another day, another blackout. Surviving under colonialism is the only extreme sport I practice.

PS: I will never ever be convinced that privatization works.

I think I'm normal.

But if you introduce yourself as "Doctor Such and Such", or "Such and Such, PHD", or worse "John Smith, attorney"... I will be immediately and invariably convinced that you're an asshole.

What she alludes to, is that losing power for a day does not cost people the food in their fridge.

She doesn't know, because she has never been poor, that its not just the cost of the groceries in the fridge. It's a knock on effect, you HAVE to throw out the meat in the freezer, and the lettuce, and now your whole weeks meal plan is ruined. So spend MORE to eat half as well.
