And to be clear, I feel like the problem isn't ChatGPT itself (although there's plenty to criticize it for). The problem is the human taking the output of whatever tool and using it without understanding.

So today I got a taste of how I'm gonna make easy money in the very near future.

Puerto Ricans are US citizens, so I often wonder how much better I'd be if I had just emigrated to the US; I'd like to think I would probably own a home. Maybe would have retired already.

On the other hand, while I know colonialism isn't right, that I am handicapped just by being here. I am fully aware there are worse places. Palestine, Haiti, heck even Hawaii.

I rage about colonialism, but realize I'm still privileged. I complain but feel like an asshole.

Video and pictures of Americans protesting fill my heart with hope.

On the other hand, I feel like an honourable use of offline/local AI would be processing these pictures/videos to:

1) Scrub and obfuscate identifiable information
2) Generate as much bogus information as possible to curb surveillance

Another day, another blackout. Surviving under colonialism is the only extreme sport I practice.

What she alludes to, is that losing power for a day does not cost people the food in their fridge.

She doesn't know, because she has never been poor, that its not just the cost of the groceries in the fridge. It's a knock on effect, you HAVE to throw out the meat in the freezer, and the lettuce, and now your whole weeks meal plan is ruined. So spend MORE to eat half as well.

In my mind, people tend to act in a way that will have a real or imagined monetary benefit to them, and I don't know her, so what does she get out of it? I would think she doesn't need money or recognition. Is she trying to become a politician?

Im not looking to excuse her behavior, I just want to "follow the money" so to speak.

@GustavinoBevilacqua The python code is for automatically securely connecting to a Mastodon server and getting the data in the first place.

I don't know of any way for a MySQL server to connect to a pre-existing Mastodon server to import data.

I am not a smart man. And I have never used Python in a professional capacity, or otherwise. I made a Python game once. That's it.

The Python code CoPilot suggested I use for my Mastodon spreadsheet was correct. But incomplete. Now that I read the docs I realize that CoPilot's code would have been much harsher on my fedi instance.

NOT saying my code is perfect. But the fact that even I can tell my noob Python code was better than CoPilot's is something.

Getting tantalizingly close. I just don't know how to make web pages pretty.

It's less than 128 lines of python (thanks mastodon.py!) And it's less wasteful and more complete than whatever copilot suggested when I asked.

The only thing is that it's kinda slow, since I don't want to annoy my instance admin and/or risk getting rate limited. Or worse.

It grinds my gears that, the help options do not open a local help application. And it double bothers me that instead of the help options sending you to a specific web page, it now sends you to a fuckin bing search page. Like motherfucker really!?

Why not local help!? Is that really what users want? If that's really the case, then fuck it, call me a decrepit old fart, cause I don't even want to begin understanding it.
