Once again I am experiencing culture shock that most Americans do not have a way to make a couple of cups of boiling water except to turn on the stove.
Edit: I hasten to add that it’s not about electric kettles not being a thing there—though don’t get a 15 A kettle or you’ll be sitting around forever—it’s that boiling a litre or so of water is a specialized thing and you have to want to do that a lot to buy a single-purpose appliance. I could make a similar remark about how most Australians don’t have a rice cooker.

@futzle We mostly don't need to boil a couple of cups of water though. :) It's not something I ever felt was missing from my life there.
