We’re getting to the point where as a tech company all you have to do is not be fascist or actively sabotage your own product with AI bullshit. You don’t even have to be good, you just have to not actively be bad
@bkuhn imo yes, folks should boycott conferences in places where trans folks wouldn’t feel safe traveling to, regardless of the fact that some trans folks already live there.
With a conference hosted in an unsafe area, you’re asking folks who live in a safe area to travel somewhere they would be unsafe.

@thibaultamartin I recently got an email from someone that said they’d already paid for the previous version and didn’t want to have to pay again for the new version. Out of curiosity I checked, and they paid $6 total over the last five years (our suggested price is $20 per version). It’s really hard to stay sustainable when repeat customers don’t think your product is worth as much as a cup of coffee :/
It’s easier to understand conservatives when you realize that they operate on a system of vertical morality while we operate on a system of horizontal morality. In a system of horizontal morality, something is right or wrong based on whether it causes harm, violates consent, etc regardless of the social status or class of an individual. In a system of vertical morality something is right or wrong based solely on whether an authority figure says so or not
