@mike I believe there is a clear consensus on the fact that war has been indeed economically good for the winner during antiquity and the middle ages. probably not worth overall, considering the damage done, but at least it was good for *somebody*then industrialization happened, and since then war has been a complete economical loss for everybody involved, even the winner, and not ever worth the price.except for the fact that the leaders of the 19th and 20th century grew up on classical literature from antiquity, and didn't get the memo about things being different, and thus didn't pass it on to the leaders today :(
