everything is a race against the calendar AND against the daily clock rotation
it becomes very stressful if you want the good ending
after that, sure, cozy, but until then it's anxiety town

how do you solve the fake gambling problem?
I know of a few solutions:
1) the run ends if you run out of money, so you're always starting with a given amount; doesn't work if the game is not run-based
2) give starting money, can get more only if at zero; viable, but means there's no actual penalty for going all in
3) it's just debt; the penalty is you can't buy stuff until you recover, but doesn't work for every game
